1913-1957Actor, productor y director teatral, fue el creador del Little Theatre of Memphis y profesor de arte dramati co en la Southwestern University. Lo contrata Co lumbia como dialoguista en 1947. En 1949 es promovido a director, siempre como realizador de las peliculas de bajo presupuesto interpretadas por Charles Starrett. Permanecio durante toda su carrera en Co lumbia, trabajando la mayor parte del tiempo para la unidad de produccion de Sam Katzman, que se caracterizaba por la extrema modestia de sus presupuestos. Se movio entre westerns, dramas criminales, musicales baratos y peliculas de ciencia-ficcion. Como, por otra parte, Sears nunca fue especialmente brillante, los resultados resultaron ser modestos.
